The PGA Tour’s season opening Mercedes-Benz Championship event every January and the LPGA Tour’s Kapalua LPGA Classic are both held in the west Maui resort community of Kapalua.  Considered the premier West Maui real estate community, Kapalua is owned by the Maui Land & Pineapple Company and is bounded by the famous Honolua Bay surf spot.  As part of the resort’s arrangement with local carriers, both Mokulele Airlines and Aloha Island Air service the local Kapalua Airport with small, propeller-driven aircraft and multiple daily frequencies to Honolulu International Airport. However, the more popular way of reaching Kapalua is by flying to Kahului and driving to the western shores of Maui.

The Kapalua Resort is comprised of three types of accommodations: the Ritz-Carlton – Kapalua, the Kapalua Villas, and the Kapalua Luxury Homes.  Besides maintaining a variety of stunning properties, the Resort also operates a number of restaurants to cater to the area’s discerning tastes.  Gourmet French, Italian, Mediterranean, Pacific Fusion, Asian, and Hawaiian cuisine are all available in the heart of Kapalua.  But the most important aspect of Kapalua is the two golf courses: The Bay Course and the Plantation Course.  Both courses have received worldwide acclaim for their challenge, location, and scenic beauty.  The resort also includes five beaches: Kapalua Bay, D.T. Fleming Beach, Oneloa Beach, Honolua Bay, and Mokule’ia Bay.

Temporary Housing When Relocating

Current housing market conditions make finding temporary housing when relocating a significant burden for people looking to move to Hawaii for work or other reasons.  While most people look directly for a house or apartment to satisfy their long-term needs, it is sometimes better to find a vacation rental home until one has enough time to search all possibilities and purchase the best property available.  Vacation homes are often very reasonable, especially during the low seasons.

With the exorbitantly high price of waterfront hotels and condominiums, large traveling parties often find themselves spending thousands of dollars on their Hawaiian vacation.  While many people are fine paying large sums of money for a single night in Hawaii, travelers on a budget should consider Hawaii vacation rental homes.  Not only do vacation rentals lower the cost per person but also are often beachfront, include full kitchen and living room facilities, and provide a home away from home.  Many times, vacation rentals are also beachfront and more private than a comparable hotel would be.  By using vacation rentals, residents can find serene and quiet spots of Hawaii to enjoy instead of being part of the massive hoards of people that populate tourist locales like Waikiki and Kailua-Kona.

Understanding Hawaii’s unique economy is a major part of running a successfulbusiness operation in the state.  Because of the island chain’s rather intricate and fragile way of doing business, newcomers must quickly understand the economic complexiono f the state in order to better understand the commercial landscape.  For people interested in Hawaii commercial real estate, the major economic driver is tourism. Although at one time, Hawaii was big in sandalwood and whaling, Hawaii today thrives off food exports, including coffee, macadamia nuts, pineapple, livestock, and sugarcane, as well as military and education.  Major commercial centers are located across the state, usually around harbors which are conducive to shipments.  Nawiliwili Harbor in Kauai is the major transit point for most goods and services on the island. The Kahului Harbor serves a similar role on Maui.  On Oahu, a much more diverse commercial landscape and spread out economic interests around the island.  Notable places of business include the downtown district that features dozens of high-rises and sky scrapers, Sand Island, Honolulu Harbor, the Honolulu International Airport, Campbell Industrial Park, and Pearl Harbor.  Major military installations throughout the state are also staples of the economy.  The largest bases are at Hickam Air Force Base and Pearl Harbor.
