The PGA Tour’s season opening Mercedes-Benz Championship event every January and the LPGA Tour’s Kapalua LPGA Classic are both held in the west Maui resort community of Kapalua. Considered the premier West Maui real estate community, Kapalua is owned by the Maui Land & Pineapple Company and is bounded by the famous Honolua Bay surf spot. As part of the resort’s arrangement with local carriers, both Mokulele Airlines and Aloha Island Air service the local Kapalua Airport with small, propeller-driven aircraft and multiple daily frequencies to Honolulu International Airport. However, the more popular way of reaching Kapalua is by flying to Kahului and driving to the western shores of Maui.
The Kapalua Resort is comprised of three types of accommodations: the Ritz-Carlton – Kapalua, the Kapalua Villas, and the Kapalua Luxury Homes. Besides maintaining a variety of stunning properties, the Resort also operates a number of restaurants to cater to the area’s discerning tastes. Gourmet French, Italian, Mediterranean, Pacific Fusion, Asian, and Hawaiian cuisine are all available in the heart of Kapalua. But the most important aspect of Kapalua is the two golf courses: The Bay Course and the Plantation Course. Both courses have received worldwide acclaim for their challenge, location, and scenic beauty. The resort also includes five beaches: Kapalua Bay, D.T. Fleming Beach, Oneloa Beach, Honolua Bay, and Mokule’ia Bay.
