Field Of Dreams
Saturday, August 29th, 2009The Central Oahu Regional Park, known to many park users simply as “corp,” is a 269- acre public park and recreational facility in the community of Waipio in central Oahu. Although there have been a number of Oahu real estate foreclosures in the area Waipio is still one of the fastest growing areas on the island. The park includes a twenty-court tennis center, the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center, which includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool, eight baseball diamonds, four softball diamonds, and a twenty-lane archery range. A tennis stadium is currently under construction at the park. Central Oahu Regional Park hosts a variety of events and serves a diverse range of community members throughout the year.
The baseball complex is the home field for the Hawaii Pacific University Sea Warrior baseball team. Every year, a large number of collegiate games are played at the complex. The Hawaii High School Athletic Association also hosts a number of baseball and softball tournaments at CORP. Additionally, a number of community youth leagues are based at the facility. On the weekends, it is not unusual to see all of the fields used continuously from sun up to sundown.
